I love this Bella! Isn't she beautiful?
I really don't know what I was thinking when I made this goofy card! I do like how it looks closed though. The opening is at the blue scalloped layer and Bella flips up with it... so it's a tri fold card. The *celebrate* sentiment also lifts with Bella. I think I'd like it better if I had attached that to the card base and only Bella lifted with the flap. She is colored with Copic markers and her dress is covered with stickles.

birthday bella...

I've been trying to use up some scraps and also some more of that double sided card stock. I found almost a whole pack and I really want to use it up, so I am sorry if you get bored with it... at least it's in five different colors combinations. I wanted to soften up the designer paper so I scalloped the edge of this vellum and I really like the way it came out. Bella is colored with Copic markers and her purse has some glaze on it.

So, one of my daughters teachers from last asked to buy some of my cards. I immediately went to my stash, pulled out the bestest ones and put them into a decorated lunch pail. I punches some scallops and cut some scrap card stock to make some dividers for pricing. She bought five *and* placed an order for cards matching a set I gave her last year at the end of the year. She is such a wonderful lady! This card is going into my sale stash. I put a little bit of stickles on the flower petals. It's hard to see in this photo, sorry 'bout that! I love the photos everyone takes with the natural light and I have been experimenting with different times of the day. Any input is appreciated. I know this light is kinda harsh... I don't get morning light so that isn't an option for me :(

birthday princess...

This is another card I did with SUs Pretty Princess set. I used some baby bling on her crown and three larger gems on the lower right. Stickles on the star on her wand and also on the heart on her crown.

This is another card on double sided card stock. I had this image stamped and colored and on my french board waiting for a loooong time! Really, I think like two years! I was going to use the images for my daughters second birthday but went with something else *after* I stamped and colored about twenty of these... look for more of her in these colors LOL!!
Thanks to Lauren (my biggest enabler!!), I have these wonderful Disney Princess stamps and had to use this sentiment for this card.

yella bella

I stumbled upon some of my old time favorite double sided solid card stock from about four or five years ago... before I got into Stampin' Up card stock. One side is a pale yellow and the other is a near perfect match for PTI aqua mist. The patterned paper is some I got over the summer by working at the CK convention. I really like the colors (and the back had a really pretty polka dot pattern... you will see that in another post). Bella is colored with Copic markers and popped up. Some satin aqua mist ribbon from PTI finishes it off. I wanted to put a sentiment on this but nothing seemed balanced.

a tiny tote

When I first made the 2-4-6-8 box I loved it! When Jenn Balcer posted directions for the 2-5-7-10 box I was in love! I was going to use these boxes for school treats but they don't hold pencils well at this size. So, these are going to be little treat boxes for a special group of ladies.

I used a half sheet of card stock and scored the bottom at 1.5 inches. It's banded with a two inch strip of patterned paper and Booglie Eyes is stamped, colored in with just my prisma colored pencils (it was hard to resist blending with mineral spirits.) A little ribbon wrapped around and a finished with just a knot. The image is popped up on foam dots.

teachers gifts....

I am making some note cards for my son's teacher for the Holidays this year. I wanted to make self sealing notes that he can use to send notes home to parents or use for colleagues. That's why I chose to do these matchbook cards. I am using up some 12x12 card stock I have excess of so these cards are 4x5.5 instead of the standard A2. I actually like this size better... somehow it just seems more proportional or something.

This card is for my friend Kristyn to bring to a swap we are going to. We were at Georgann's the other night cutting, cutting, cutting and I threw it all together in baggies and made the final sample because we didn't have ribbon there that *worked* on this. I really like the way this silver ribbon pulls the sparkle from the shimmery card stock of the main image.

We CASED this from a Christmas card G did last year. We just spun it and changed up the embellishments we used. The image was stamped in handsome hunter on shimmery paper... it really shines irl. It's popped up on foam dots. I used my Fiskars snowflake embossing punch for the edge. The "O" in JOY was sponged with sage shadow ink. It makes the silver snowflake brad stand out just a bit more.

I made this matchbook card a few days ago. It's a CASE from last years SU kit called Holiday Blitz. After the promotion, SU had a sale on the kits (less the wild wasabi base card) and I snatched some up. The kit came with a whisper white panel that I chose not to use. I like the flowers stamped on the soft sky dsp.

It's hard to see in the photo, but the red layer has paper piercing along both edges. The red zig zag ribbon is stapled on.

I got this adorable image from the Wish RAK group on SCS. There are some truly generous stampers in that group! But then, aren't all stampers??

I made this card a few weeks ago but never got around to shooting her till today. I really love how this came together. I have a brother sewing machine that I really wish I knew how to use :) but for this card, I pierced the paper with my SU tool kit and hand stitched floss into the holes. She is colored in with copic markers. I am adding to my collection monthly with Gina K's club! Thanks Gina for making it so easy to collect them.

I made this card for my niece Kaitlyn. I wasn't able to go to her party as it was the same weekend as CKC and I had already scheduled and paid for my classes before we were invited to her party. My kids had a blast though!

Don't you think sock monkeys are the cutest? I love sock monkeys! I can't remember ever having one or knowing anyone who made them. In fact, I can't ever remember seeing one in person... how sad is that!! Jody made a few that she posted on her blog and really love what she did with them. This one and this one really inspired me to try piecing them. This was my first attempt. I made the scallop with my SU slit punch.

let's play with ribbon

So as promised, I am sharing some of the fun stuff I learned at my classes at CKC. Today, I am sharing some fun things from my ribbon class with you. I had a duh moment with almost all of the techniques we learned. Some were very simple, others more complex.
The first ribbon technique I want to share is this simple french board style tag pocket. To achieve this look, all you need to do is cross two (or more) ribbons adhering them at the ends only.

Another super easy ribbon treatment is with this one we did on this puffy sticker. Think about this on chipboard too. For this, we started with one end of the ribbon and attached it to the back of the sticker and crossed it over the front of the flower going between each petal with a slight rotation in the back of the flower.

I think this flower brad technique was my favorite! This was just a bit more complex than the other two. This one was done is by opening the brad prongs all the way lifting them off the back of the gem slightly. You don't have to use a gem brad though. In the center of the ribbon, pinch your ribbon bit and twist a few times. Tuck the ribbon under one of the prongs and push the prong back into it's original position flat against the gem. Repeat this for the other prong. Make a third ribbon twist and place this one in the center. Arrange the ribbon petals and clean up the edges.

And some reminders of some techniques that have been around the block a few times:

• photo corners, wrap a bit of ribbon around the corner of a photo attaching the ends to the back
• knots, use a loose double knot for another look
• tie on a group of ribbon with a longer srtip of ribbon (as shown on the letter D here)
